"As they passed the rows of houses they saw through the open doors that men were sweeping and dusting and washing dishes, while the women sat around in groups, gossiping and laughing. "What has happened?" the Scarecrow asked a sad-looking man with a bushy beard, who wore an apron and was wheeling a baby-carriage along the sidewalk. "Why, we've had a revolution, your Majesty -- as you ought to know very well," replied the man; "and since you went away the women have been running things to suit themselves. I'm glad you have decided to come back and restore order, for doing housework and minding the children is wearing out the strength of every man in the Emerald City." "Hm!" said the Scarecrow, thoughtfully. "If it is such hard work as you say, how did the women manage it so easily?" "I really do not know," replied the man, with a deep sigh. "Perhaps the women are made of cast-iron.""

A Tribute To Guyliner

Nestor Carbonell has been all over TV. (Cane, Suddenly Susan, The Dark Knight) He's probably best known around these here parts as "Richard Alpert", immortal, semi-leader of the others, a yoda-like character.

But not to me. I first met him as "Batmanuel" on "The Tick", a brilliant, but ill-fated TV show.

Just like Don Knotts in any other role was still Barney Fife in another role, whenever I see Nestor/Richard/Guyliner, I only see "Batmanuel"

Go here for an abridged 5 minute Tick episode to see how brilliant it was.

Here's the 50 second clip I really wanted you to see, but I can't find it in English, but you know, it may actually be funnier in French.

God Bless You, Batmanuel. You can run around on other shows, but nothing can make us forget the coolness that is Batmanuel.

"The Tick" -- ah, memories. Canceling that show was an absolute crime.

The whole series is available on DVD.

I watched the animated show before that, brilliant.

And had read the comic before that, but I didn't like that it was only in black and white.

They actually did a great job capturing the comic and cartoon's essence in live action. Patrick Warburton is a genius. The Tick convinced me of that. He was perfect.

But that Batmanuel...he stole the show.

I think that's how Lost is going to end. It's really a group mind-control experiment that "The Terror" is conducting on The Tick, Arthur, and Batmanuel as we'll find out in the last episode of "Lost". They'll all wake up in costume.

Jack - The Tick

Ben - Arthur

Kate - Captain Liberty

Hey, that's the Smiths!!! Thanks for that Shrode.

Are you sure that was the Smiths? Because the video's author said it was someone else, but I don't want to say who. But it wasn't the Smiths. Very far away from them actually, literally, figuratively, musically and metaphorically.

No, I don't know who was performing it, but the song was "How Soon is Now" originally by the Smiths.
