10. GinH - 01/14/2009 1:12 pm CST

Love these Movies:
Princess Bride
The Green Mile
Shawshank Redemption
Overboard
Somewhere In Time

Don't really have any favorite actors and actresses but will watch any movie with these people, which may make them favorites, actually:
Will Smith
Harrison Ford
Amanda Bynes (not sure I spelled that right, but I think she's adorable and hilarious)
Mel Gibson
Tom Hanks
Meg Ryan

Love music by Sara Groves, Bethany Dillon, Brad Paisley, Dolly Parton, The Beatles and Elvis.

I haven't even heard of some of the music people you guys have listed. I'm clearly a main-stream nerd when it comes to music. Not near cutting edge enough.

Oh well. I'm a mom. What can I say? I'm supposed to be a dork.

11. Bird - 01/14/2009 1:44 pm CST

My quick five for singers:

1. Bono
2. The Edge
3. Adam Clayton
4. Larry Mullen Jr.
5. Paul McGinnis (U2's manager)

:gbird:

12. nhe - 01/14/2009 1:53 pm CST

Gotta disagree on number 5 Bird - all U2 fans know that Greg Carrol had a better set of pipes than McGinnis (Carrol is the U2 roadie who died in the motorcyle accident - One Tree Hill is dedicated to him)
:) :)

13. Bird - 01/14/2009 2:10 pm CST

25. Daniel Ross - 01/15/2009 8:11 am CST

O Holy Night: Our church band (that I lead), Narrow Path, did a Christmas CD (self-produced, etc.) this year that we gave away to our congregation and made available online for the general public. You can either get OHN for free on our church's web site or buy it on iTunes for 99 cents here (of course, you can also buy the whole album there).

We went for epic (think Muse, amped-up Queen). I'm biased, but I like the arrangement (just wish we had a better lead singer).

End Shamless Plug. :-)

Shrode - I like the TV emphasis among your actor/actresses

Thanks! That was intentional. Thanks for noticing. :) I should have written "Patricia Heaton" not Richardson. I meant the actress who plays the mom on "Raymond", not whoever that other person is that I've heard of, but don't know who she is.

- do you watch "The Mentalist"? I've seen it a few times and Simon Baker is very good.......

I've seen every episode and won't miss one. It's so good. I've been following Simon Baker since "The Guardian". I've even watched his movie roles (Red Planet and L.A. Confidential). He's awesome. I even watched the quickly canceled series he did with Ray Liotta last year, cuz of him. He's Australian, but does a great American accent. He's only let it drop once (one line on a "The Guardian" episode)

Also NICE on Greg X. Volz - have you heard his cover of "Hark the Herald Angels Sing"? - my favorite cover of any Christmas song.......

Thanks! He's awesome. I love his cover of Aerosmith's "Dream On". I haven't heard "Hark the Herald Angels Sing". I'll bet it's great.

and of course I have to ask - can you do the cup trick?

Are you talking about "Knick-Knack-Paddywhack"? If so, yes and I have to ask, How did you know? What's the association between that and Greg X.? If you are talking about a different cup trick, then what in the world are you talking about? :ggeek:

28. nhe - 01/16/2009 7:24 am CST

Shrode - the cup trick video is on YouTube - its done to Mullins' "Screen Door" (on your song list) - big in the 80s.

29. Manders - 01/16/2009 11:06 am CST

Movies: High Fidelity, Pulp Fiction, The Philadelphia Story, WALL-E, Before Sunrise.
Actors: John Cusack, Jimmy Stewart, Johnny Depp, Hugh Jackman (no, really), and Raul Esparza (he's a stage actor).
Actresses: Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet, Katharine Hepburn, Amy Adams, and Evangeline Lily (woot)
Singers: Bono, Glen Hansard (the guy from "Once"), Derek Webb, Sandra McCracken, Adele (dang, she's so good).
Songs: This changes frequently, but: "One" (U2), "Fitzcarraldo" (The Frames), "Hello Goodbye" (The Beatles), Sicut Cervus (Palestrina), "Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes" (Paul Simon)

30. Shrode - 01/16/2009 4:35 pm CST

nhe,
Went and watched it.

Awesome! Yes, I know that cup trick. I can do it as well as they can. I learned it in the youth camp cafeteria. I did it once with a whole table full of people. Pretty awesome. (Only we chanted "knick Knack paddywhack" as we did it. Screen door is a much cooler way.)

I'm imagining that Rich probably learned it on the Christian youth camp circuit and adapted it for that song. Just a theory... :ggeek:

31. nhe - 01/16/2009 7:14 pm CST

Manders rivals Andrew for "cool list" award
