"As they passed the rows of houses they saw through the open doors that men were sweeping and dusting and washing dishes, while the women sat around in groups, gossiping and laughing. "What has happened?" the Scarecrow asked a sad-looking man with a bushy beard, who wore an apron and was wheeling a baby-carriage along the sidewalk. "Why, we've had a revolution, your Majesty -- as you ought to know very well," replied the man; "and since you went away the women have been running things to suit themselves. I'm glad you have decided to come back and restore order, for doing housework and minding the children is wearing out the strength of every man in the Emerald City." "Hm!" said the Scarecrow, thoughtfully. "If it is such hard work as you say, how did the women manage it so easily?" "I really do not know," replied the man, with a deep sigh. "Perhaps the women are made of cast-iron.""

Happy (Belated) Birthday, Phil!

Last Sunday, the 26th, was Shrode's birthday. Happy Birthday, Shrode!

(I think he's, like, eighteen now.)

Thanks Dude!

Actually, I finally look eighteen now. :gshrode:

Can you grow a beard yet?

3. Shrode - 10/28/2008 4:21 pm CDT

Ouch. :-)

Seriously though, not really. I tried when my second son was born. I got somewhat fuzzy along the jawline, but the rest never filled in well. It was pitiful (and itchy.)

On the plus side, I do need to shave every day now. That's a fairly new thing that started around age 30. When I was in my 20's (when Jared saw me) I shaved every 2-3 days.

Happy Birthday again, Shrode!

The fact that at 19, I can already grow more facial hair than a Thinkling, the pinnacles of masculinty, is to say the least, pretty gratifying.

7. Andrew - 10/28/2008 8:12 pm CDT

Oh and...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

8. Shrode - 10/28/2008 9:19 pm CDT

It ought to be gratifying. I was thinking about this a little while ago and came to the conclusion that if you and I were out together and told people we were the same age (without giving them a number of any kind) I think they'd believe us...

Or they'd think I was lying in order to hang out with my older brother! :-)

Oh and...

THANKS!!

I still wish it were my birthday!

When I hang out with Andrew, people think he's my son rather than my grandson.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! (whenever it was)

Blessings to you, your family, and your ministry.

Andrew R's proud grandfather... at least 1 of them.
