"Well, crying isn't gonna bring your dog back . . . unless your tears smell like dog food. So you can either sit there crying and eating can after can of dog food until your tears smell enough like dog food to make your dog come back or you can go out there and find your dog."

Happy Birthday, Macy!

Our oldest turns 8 today. Time has flown. Seems like just yesterday she was toddling around the house, chattering to "Memo" (Elmo) on her playphone. Now she's writing "novels" and original musical compositions.

Our little beauty's growing up.

Macy 5 years or so ago, about the time I started blogging:

Macy this year:

Happy Birthday, baby girl.

Hey Jared, You're on Challies!
PS Your daughter is a doll.

Happy Birthday, Macy!

Also, Jared - I hate to break it to you, but it's been SIX years (Feb 2003).

I know. I just couldn't find a pic older than that first one on our computer. 2001-2004 was pre-digital camera and digital photo files for us. :-)

Btw, I looked at Challies. You're excellent "10 people a pastor should fear" post is referenced, but he made a comment that it was primarily an "entertainment" post. Is a point being missed?

Back to Macy - like her daddy, she's smart as a whip. I also remember being totally impressed with her piano recital video from last year. Is she still playing?

5. Jared - 05/28/2009 11:08 am CDT

Yeah, I don't know why Challies made that "entertainment" remark. I mean, there's some humor in the post, so maybe that's all he meant: it wasn't a totally serious "pastoral helps" piece.

Someone else emailed me about the same thing and somebody commented on that remark at his post. So it's raised eyebrows. :-)

Oh, yeah, Macy is still playing. She played in the school talent show. I plan to get video of that up sometime today (along with Grace winning her school's Kindergartener of the Year Award :-).

Wow - your kids are awesome!

baby girl, nothin. That's a young woman. Look out, Jared. You're gettin' old. :)

Bill, thanks. I wish I could take credit. God is gracious, and Becky is awesome.

Look out, Jared. You're gettin' old. :)

My oldest daughter turns EIGHTEEN in a couple of weeks. That still just doesn't compute.

She's graduating high school in two weeks too.

And let's not even mention that I have one poised to turn 20 at the end of the summer.

If Jared's old, I'm Skeletor

She's a beauty, Jared.

Happy Birthday, Macy!

Miss Littles, The Boy, and I wish her a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!

Jared, I think you should just confront Tim on his blog, telling him that was not meant for "entertainment" purposes--but was drop-dead serious. Let's see if we can get a big controversy going. :)
It was a great article.
