"As they passed the rows of houses they saw through the open doors that men were sweeping and dusting and washing dishes, while the women sat around in groups, gossiping and laughing. "What has happened?" the Scarecrow asked a sad-looking man with a bushy beard, who wore an apron and was wheeling a baby-carriage along the sidewalk. "Why, we've had a revolution, your Majesty -- as you ought to know very well," replied the man; "and since you went away the women have been running things to suit themselves. I'm glad you have decided to come back and restore order, for doing housework and minding the children is wearing out the strength of every man in the Emerald City." "Hm!" said the Scarecrow, thoughtfully. "If it is such hard work as you say, how did the women manage it so easily?" "I really do not know," replied the man, with a deep sigh. "Perhaps the women are made of cast-iron.""

Joel Osteen Says He's A Calvinist

Well, no he didn't.

This is just a shameless plea to get someone to comment on something we post here.

Maybe somebody just needs to start a good argument. ;-)

A gal at church said that the reason her husband didn't come to church was because he is on pain medication and can't stay awake for the sermon. She said that he watched Joel Osteen on TV. I said that the way I check out a preacher is using the Bible as a plumb line. She said that her sister thought that any good teaching was helpful. I'm praying that those who believe in Jesus will know why they believe what they believe.

His taste in jeans is about as close to "calvinism" as he'll get.

HAHA, I almost choked when I saw that headline. Oh if only it were true...

He also says that he's a preacher.

Why should I take his word for anything?

Paul Washer is a prosperity Gospel preacher.

I think I'm trying to on your latest post . . .

I have quit commenting much because one time that I did comment (actually in agreement with the original poster not in argument) I was called a racist by a fellow commenter and then proceeded to get in a blood-pressure raising argument with him. I am trying to back off on my "discussions" on-line (especially the political ones). I do love to read this blog and I have been blessed and enriched by you guys. Thanks.

if nothing else, Philip, you have a gift for attention-getting headlines!

i too am a frequent reader, but rarely comment - often because someone else has already offered my p.o.v. :)

but i thank you all for sharing your thoughts and your hearts for the Lord - i am often encouraged by what i read here. :)

and i already miss the posts on LOST!

Deacontrek,
I'm sorry about your bad experience. It was probably my fault. ;-) blame it on me.

I'm glad you're still around. I hope you stay around.

And Happy,
That goes for you too....if for no other reason than your user name makes me smile for some strange reason...

Nope wasn't your fault, in fact it was my fault for reacting to the false accusation by a race-baiter. It is one of my many character faults that I can't seem to back down, or stop before things get heated. Working on it though.
