"As they passed the rows of houses they saw through the open doors that men were sweeping and dusting and washing dishes, while the women sat around in groups, gossiping and laughing. "What has happened?" the Scarecrow asked a sad-looking man with a bushy beard, who wore an apron and was wheeling a baby-carriage along the sidewalk. "Why, we've had a revolution, your Majesty -- as you ought to know very well," replied the man; "and since you went away the women have been running things to suit themselves. I'm glad you have decided to come back and restore order, for doing housework and minding the children is wearing out the strength of every man in the Emerald City." "Hm!" said the Scarecrow, thoughtfully. "If it is such hard work as you say, how did the women manage it so easily?" "I really do not know," replied the man, with a deep sigh. "Perhaps the women are made of cast-iron.""

Literally, a Total Eclipse of the Heart

I love literal videos!

Disclaimer - I guess this will further solidify my reputation as the Edge-y Thinkling . . .

This video is somewhere between PG and PG-13, lyrics-wise. Just FYI.

I caught this a few months ago, and it is one of the funnier things I've seen (up until the farting noises begin). But it does end well . . .

Farting noises? I don't recall that part :-)

Guess I need to rewatch/relisten to it.

Total eclipse of the fart.

This is the first literal video I saw ... which is too bad, because it's also the best I've ever seen, by a long shot.

Thanks! I love it!

Hahaha. I just rewatched it. At 3:00 when the guy kicks the door open, I thought the girl was farting - (she had just said that she needed to use the restroom). I now realize that it was the sound effect of a door opening.

Before you start making fun of how a door opening and a fart don't sound anything alike, go back and listen to it - you might see where I got confused.

Still - you have to admit that when they stop making fun of camera angles/costumes/weird unexplainable video cuts, etc. and start focusing on potty humor, it's not as funny.

I agree that bathroom humor is never funny (I'm one of the only ones who thought "the bleeder" in "Something About Mary" wasn't that funny)......but, the slightly off color line at the end of this video about the angel with his hands in the wrong spot made me laugh out loud hard.....overall this is great - are the other literal videos as good?

Here are two favorites of mine:

Literal video for Aha's "Take On Me"

It's probably my favorite, because they do a really good job of singing like Aha. The Total Eclipse video would have been better if she sounded more like Bonnie Tyler

Here's another good one - literal of Tears for Fears' Head over Heels - also a vocal performance very true to the original.
