Lookin' For A Sound That's Going To Drown Out The World

My brother turned me on to Coldplay's Viva La Vida. Now I'm totally hooked. I've dabbled in Coldplay previously, but all I've really done is stuck my toe in the pool. This album, though, is something entirely different. I think I'm a fanboy now. Speaking of being a fanboy, I'm tempted to break down and listen to U2's forthcoming No Line On The Horizon via the stream on U2.com. I'm still undecided on that, though.

Coldplay's awesome, and Viva La Vida is a great album.

Can't wait to get U2's new one.

On a recent trip to UMHB, Eldest Daughter put Viva la Vida (the song) on a CD trip mix. Really cool song!

I was glad to see Coldplay featured prominently in the Oscars last night behind a couple of video monatges that the production called "Video Yearbooks".

They used "Lovers in Japan" behind a series of clips set of romance movies.

Bird - VLV was produced by Brian Eno who I think has done U2's newest (along with many of their other albums). Maybe you're more a fan of Eno than you are of the bands . . . thoughts?

Eno produced The Joshua Tree didn't he?

Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois have both produced most of U2's albums since The Unforgettable Fire (except for Pop). Also, Eno had input, but was not the major producer of How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb.

can I love U2 and just not feel Cold Play?.........must be an acquired taste - by everyone in my family but me.

..........btw - I've listened several times to the new U2 album at the U2.com site.......wow, loving it......Magnificent is probably my favorite, but the more I listen to it, the more I love just about all of it........I'm hearing the most overt Gospel lyrics since their first album.....but that's without the lyrics in front of me.

Quaid,

I think the Eno influence definitely helped Viva La Vida, so in that way you can say I'm also an Eno fan. I started listening to Parachutes again and I have a renewed interest in it and their earlier stuff.

I checked out this album on MySpace. Very nice. I need to listen to Coldplay more.
