"As they passed the rows of houses they saw through the open doors that men were sweeping and dusting and washing dishes, while the women sat around in groups, gossiping and laughing. "What has happened?" the Scarecrow asked a sad-looking man with a bushy beard, who wore an apron and was wheeling a baby-carriage along the sidewalk. "Why, we've had a revolution, your Majesty -- as you ought to know very well," replied the man; "and since you went away the women have been running things to suit themselves. I'm glad you have decided to come back and restore order, for doing housework and minding the children is wearing out the strength of every man in the Emerald City." "Hm!" said the Scarecrow, thoughtfully. "If it is such hard work as you say, how did the women manage it so easily?" "I really do not know," replied the man, with a deep sigh. "Perhaps the women are made of cast-iron.""

Jack is with Locke now.

Jack is TOTALLY going to die.

2. Jared - 04/21/2010 6:12 am CDT

He's a mole!

3. jen - 04/21/2010 6:22 am CDT

I am so gonna miss this show when it's over.

4. Bill - 04/21/2010 7:07 am CDT

Jen,

Me too.

Jared - well, I wouldn't say "mole", per se, but I do think that Jack is going to make a choice somewhere here that will result in a) Smokie being defeated and b) Jack shuffling off this mortal coil.

He's been on a heavy redemption arc anyway.

5. Evan - 04/21/2010 7:10 am CDT

My favorite part of this episode was Sayid and Desmond's talk at the well. In particular, Desmond's question "This woman, when she asks you what did you do to be with her again, what will you tell her?"

6. Quaid - 04/21/2010 7:33 am CDT

I was glad to see some of Sawyer's snark back. It wasn't the funniest, but hearing "stepped off of some Burt Reynolds movie" made me laugh more because it was so unexpected.

I realize that we haven't seen a lot of the great dialogue this season that we've seen in the past.

I also noticed that it appears that only redshirts got blown up at the end - there was no evidence of Ben or anyone else in Locke's camp who has ever spoken in the show getting knocked out.

7. TheCalvinator - 04/21/2010 8:18 am CDT

I believe that Desmond is still alive, and that indicates that there is still hope for Sayid's redemption.

I believe that Jack is going to sacrifice himself in a way that he believes will protect everyone else.

I believe that Jacob's replacement is going to be Hurley (maybe too obvious) or Sawyer (perhaps that would be too cruel) or maybe even Sayid (because since he can't really get Nadia back, what does he want to leave the island for?).

8. GinH - 04/21/2010 9:06 am CDT

I think Sayid is back, too - thank goodness cuz he's one of my favorites. Maybe even Claire? And I think Jack has already sacrificed for the others by jumping off that boat. Wasn't crazy about Sawyer at that moment. Although Sawyer's Burt Reynolds comment was hilarious. Some of the old Kate seems to be coming back too. I know, I know. Most hated character around here, but she really did come back to rescue Claire. Cut her some slack??
And Tuesdays will be depressing in 5 weeks. I can't believe it's almost over.
What will I watch?? Nothing will be this good again.

9. Shrode - 04/21/2010 11:01 am CDT

GinH,

go back and watch all the "Battlestar Galactica" DVD's. (The new one.) It's as good as LOST. Really.

10. jen - 04/21/2010 11:14 am CDT

Sort of agree about BSG, until the last season. I didn't love it as much at that point and just wanted it over.

11. Quaid - 04/21/2010 1:27 pm CDT

Things I've never watched that I'm waiting for LOST to be over to begin, in no particular order:
Alias- Seasons 1 - 3
Band of Brothers - All episodes
24 - Seasons 1-4
Sports Night - All 3 Seasons
BSG? I wasn't planning on it, but I could be persuaded . . .

Other recommendations???

12. Jared - 04/21/2010 1:35 pm CDT

Beck and I have become partial to "Mad Men."

13. GinH - 04/21/2010 2:35 pm CDT

I've heard that about BSG. Guess I'll officially give it a go. Thanks!

14. stroke - 04/21/2010 3:40 pm CDT

quaid, have you watched arrested development? do that before sports night. sports night was good but not great.

15. damien - 04/21/2010 4:53 pm CDT

my son and i watched all of bsg based on a past recommendation here and we got hooked fast. it's given us a whole new vocabulary, and we always notice when one of the actors shows up in a movie or on a tv show. i'm trying not to end our group prayers with "so say we all."

16. Andrew - 04/21/2010 8:12 pm CDT

Quaid,

I like Dexter. Northern Exposure is good if you've never seen it.

17. Bill - 04/21/2010 8:58 pm CDT

OK, amidst the conversation about the show (and about other shows . . . curious) - How come no one is . . .

COMPLETELY LOSING IT OVER THE FACT THAT SUN AND JIN ARE BACK TOGETHER!!! NEVER TO BE PARTED AGAIN!!!!!!

That. was. AWESOME!!!

18. ginh - 04/21/2010 10:58 pm CDT

Bill- I did go crazy at that part. Finally they're together!
I teared up a little, too.
Better? Trying to make up for comments going off track. My fault for languishing in sadness over the loss of lost.

19. Cara - 04/21/2010 11:01 pm CDT

I also LOVE Mad Men.

As an aside, the woman Christina Hendricks who plays the "va-va-voom" office manager Joan Holloway was voted "prettiest woman in America" by Esquire magazine. This was surprising to me because she is noted for her "curves". I am hoping that women will again be allowed to look like something more than a prepubescent boy with silicone implants. You know, "average sized" instead of 0 or 2.

Love LOST. Can't wait to see it all end, but then yes, I will be sad too. I always look forward to the blog recap here.

20. Shrode - 04/22/2010 7:57 pm CDT

BSG really is worth the time. I'm telling you.

One of the best shows. EVER! Avoid spoilers though.

Just start with the miniseries. And then start working your way through the seasons. There are only 4.

It's not just for Sci-Fi nerds.

Writing. Acting. Plot. Story Arc. Themes. Everything is just brilliant. Trust me.

21. Riley - 04/22/2010 9:10 pm CDT

I actually have been looking into BSG... and I am a Sci-Fi nerd. Does that mean it will do double the good?

22. Quaid - 04/22/2010 11:47 pm CDT

Thanks everyone for the recs!

Stroke - Arrested Development? Check. (and eagerly anticipating the movie)
Andrew - Dexter? Check.

I thought about MadMen after the comment and will add that to the list.

Back to LOST,
JIN & SUN!!!! I nearly lost it. I had both of my hands up in the air like Rocky atop the stairs. I couldn't figure it out - were they having guns pointed at them, too?

Is it wrong that I want neither Widmore nor Slocke to win their stupid war? I will gladly take more characters being unexpectedly blizzown izzup by dy-no-mite, though. I need to watch more Good Times . . .

23. Michele - 04/23/2010 12:22 am CDT

Bill, I hate to pop your Sun/Jin reunion bubble party, but I thought it anti-climatic. I was so worried they were going to get fried in the fence. Did you notice Sawyer got all teched-looking? I wonder if it was for Juliet or Kate. Annoying if it was for Kate. Gack, poor Juliet's barely in the alternative universe and he's running around with her nemisis.
Also, if Smokie is telling the truth about being Christian Shepherd, how did he appear in the hospital? Hmmmm? He's not supposed to be able to leave the island.

24. Quaid - 04/23/2010 9:52 am CDT

What does "teched-looking" mean?

25. Michele - 04/27/2010 11:45 pm CDT

Heh, I meant "touched", but in my head, I said it with a hick-accent.
