"Well, crying isn't gonna bring your dog back . . . unless your tears smell like dog food. So you can either sit there crying and eating can after can of dog food until your tears smell enough like dog food to make your dog come back or you can go out there and find your dog."

Out of the Bloo . . .

Just in case anyone wonders where I've been . . .

I've been on a semi-hiatus for awhile, although I do post now and then. But in my hiatus I haven't been idle. Since getting into blogging and webmastering/developing several sites, I've become intrigued with the state of blog software. A while ago I decided to begin writing my own blog software, with the intent to put it in the public domain.

This coincided with a desire, based on various circumstances in the life of my family, to find a quiet, meditative place.

A week ago I launched my new solo blog, called Out of the Bloo. It is powered by the software I have been writing, which is called "Bloo" (for "Blog Objects"). I won't bore you with the details, although you can get a pretty good idea of where I'm going with this blog by reading the release notes for the initial version (version 0.1). Suffice it to say, for those of you with an inner geek, that it's an object-oriented implementation of blog software written from the ground up. It has enough features now that it makes for a decently usable blog, although there are many more to come. I am very much enjoying working on the software.

When I launched Out of the Bloo I purposefully told no one about it, because I wanted to see how long it would take me to be "found". I was surprised at how fast both Eric at the Fireant Gazette and Jen tracked me down - it took them less than 24 hours to find my quiet little corner of the Blogosphere - well done.

So, stop by if you want to. It's got quieter, more contemplative posts than what I usually write. I'm not in the mood for politics or controversy these days, but I've been drinking up some very cool things from God's word recently and also commenting on a few current events and, of course, the progress of Bloo (I deployed version 0.11 today).

I've also put myself in the Inner Sanctum - hope that's OK guys!

Bill,

Congratulations on your new blog and the software you're creating! Does your blog have an RSS feed yet? I was going to add it to my Bloglines subscriptions.

Thankyou Susan

No, no rss feed yet, although that's coming out in my next release (hopefully within a week)
