"As they passed the rows of houses they saw through the open doors that men were sweeping and dusting and washing dishes, while the women sat around in groups, gossiping and laughing. "What has happened?" the Scarecrow asked a sad-looking man with a bushy beard, who wore an apron and was wheeling a baby-carriage along the sidewalk. "Why, we've had a revolution, your Majesty -- as you ought to know very well," replied the man; "and since you went away the women have been running things to suit themselves. I'm glad you have decided to come back and restore order, for doing housework and minding the children is wearing out the strength of every man in the Emerald City." "Hm!" said the Scarecrow, thoughtfully. "If it is such hard work as you say, how did the women manage it so easily?" "I really do not know," replied the man, with a deep sigh. "Perhaps the women are made of cast-iron.""

A Few More World Mandate Photos

This first photo is almost a little too artsy fartsy, but the longer I look at it, the more I like it. I guess it's my intrinsic narcissism. Anyway, without further ado, this is one of my favorite speaker shots from World Mandate 2009:

This shot is all about repeating patterns:

This photo, obviously, needs no explanation:

Hey, Bird, you almost missed the guy in the first photo! Hahaha. At a newspaper they would turn that photo into a tight mug shot.

Awesome!
Do you know if the main sessions be available to download from the website?

4. Bird - 01/26/2009 8:25 pm CST

I'd assume so, but who knows? I think the gal at the bookstore told me they'd be available for download off the website. Not sure though.

Really great pics! I've enjoyed looking at them. There were a bunch of people from our church there... I've been trying to play "Where's Waldo" looking for them in your pictures. But alas, I suppose they did not make it... :)

Thanks, Whitney. I may post a bunch on Flickr and then you'd have more of a chance of spotting someone you know. I'll post it on here if I do so.

Hey Bird - You underestimated the height, depth and breadth of my ignorance when you said that picture needed no explanation.

Would you mind explaining it to me? Seriously, why is a speaker carrying an unconscious child across the stage?

I like the visual effect in second photo. Pretty cool. But now I'm wondering what they were actually doing.

Shrode, I was joking. :-) I knew the photo needed explanation, but I thought it'd be funny to say that it didn't need any explanation. He's carrying his son around giving a visual representation of God carrying us and encouraging us. It went quite well with his message.

But now I'm wondering what they were actually doing.

They're extending their hands to pray for someone.
